Power on · ON
Clear glass, normal visibility
The liquid crystals align with the electric field so light passes straight through. White transmits 88% of light, so you can see through it like ordinary glass.
Smart Film · PDLC switchable film
Meeting rooms that go from open to private in a fraction of a second. Applies to existing glass with no removal and no curtains. Installed by the Energy Shield team, who have completed Smart Film projects for offices, universities and design studios.
Smart Film for existing glass
White · Grey · Black
How it works
The film has a liquid crystal layer between two ITO conductive films. Switching the power on or off changes how the crystals align, so the glass turns from clear to frosted instantly.
Power on · ON
The liquid crystals align with the electric field so light passes straight through. White transmits 88% of light, so you can see through it like ordinary glass.
Power off · OFF
The liquid crystals scatter and refract light in all directions, so you can't see inside, but light still gets through (White still transmits 69% when frosted). The room stays bright, and the glass can be used as a projection screen.
Self-adhesive film that applies to your existing glass, including glass walls, doors and curved glass, with no need to replace the glass.
Switch, remote, mobile app, WiFi, voice control or light sensor, depending on how you use the space.
Frosted mode takes images from a rear projector, so the glass can serve as a meeting room screen or shopfront advertising display.

FAQ
Yes. Self-adhesive Smart Film can be applied to existing flat or curved glass, with no need to remove or replace the glass. Our team handles the wiring and transformer installation.
Standard Smart Film (PDLC) goes into frosted mode when there is no power. If you need the glass to stay clear during a power cut, choose the reverse-mode PNLC model.
It uses less than 5 watts per square metre in clear mode. 10 square metres of glass uses less power than a single LED light fitting.
There are 3 main colours: White, Grey and Black. White lets through the most light; Black is the most opaque, suited to rooms that need darkness or use as a screen.
By switch, remote, mobile app, WiFi, voice command or light sensor, depending on the control kit you choose.
The film has a 2-year warranty. White and Grey have a service life of over 80,000 hours.
